Financial Aid

Deadline: Applications for the 2026-2027 hockey season are due by October 9. Applicants submitting all required information by this date will receive a decision from the financial aid committee by October 15.

PURPOSE: The West Elk Hockey Association (WEHA) mission supports equitable access to programming from players of all backgrounds. WEHA financial aid is meant to ease the burden of registration fees to families that demonstrate a financial need.

ELIGIBILITY:

• The player is registered, or planning to register, for a WEHA youth hockey program for the current season.
• The family's WEHA account has no past-due balance.
• The player and family are in good standing with WEHA, CAHA, and USA Hockey.
• The player intends to complete the full season.

LIMITATIONS: Financial aid is applied to WEHA registration fees only. Funds cannot be applied to USA Hockey fees, travel expenses, tournament entry-fees, or other expenses unless specified in the decision from the financial aid committee.

CONTRIBUTION AMOUNT: The maximum amount of financial aid for any player is typically capped at 80% of the player's WEHA program registration. Any amount greater than 80% will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the committee.

CONFIDENTIALITY: All information collected as part of the financial aid application process will be kept in strict confidence and reviewed solely by the financial aid committee. All information collected during this process will be destroyed within 30 days after the current season ends.

RECIPIENT OBLIGATIONS: Players receiving financial aid are expected to adhere to the WEHA's Code of Conduct, and to regularly attend and participate in practice and games. Families receiving financial aid are expected to volunteer throughout the season in game operation roles or through other opportunities that become available throughout the season. Failure to meet these expectations could impact eligibility for future financial aid.
